Gliderol Garage Door Project Featuring Basalt Tuscan Design

A dated or poorly matched garage door can reduce a home’s street appeal and affect overall performance. Many homes still use basic doors that don’t complement modern cladding, eaves, or colour schemes.

Without matching finishes or material upgrades, even a newly renovated facade can look incomplete. Older garage doors may lack insulation, security, or the sharp visual appeal expected in new builds or full renovations.

This project involved replacing two garage doors with Gliderol Panel Doors in the Tuscan design, finished in Colorbond Basalt. The result blends form and function, matching Steeline Bonville Cladding in Monument and detailed eaves and barges for a seamless outcome.

Why the Right Garage Door Matters

Garage doors aren’t just about access. They make up a large part of your home’s facade and influence energy efficiency, noise control, and daily usability.

  • Improves street appeal instantly
  • Contributes to thermal performance
  • Helps reduce external noise
  • Supports home security
  • Enhances resale value

Choosing a modern, high-performance door makes the garage more useful while complementing other exterior finishes. It becomes part of the house design rather than an afterthought.

Before Installation

The homeowners wanted a door that would match their home’s updated design features without compromising durability. They chose Gliderol’s Tuscan profile with a Colorbond Basalt finish for its modern appeal and woodgrain texture.

We worked closely with them to finalise colour, sizing, and door type. The goal was to achieve a clean visual transition between the garage doors and adjacent building features such as Monument-coloured cladding and Lux Maple eaves.

Installation Details

The project included two sectional overhead doors:

  • 1 door: 2.6m high x 5.08m wide (Tuscan Design, Colorbond Basalt, Woodgrain finish)
  • 1 door: 2.6m high x 2.47m wide (Tuscan Design, Colorbond Basalt, Woodgrain finish)

Our team planned the install around access, door framing, and cladding compatibility. The time-lapse footage captured each stage—from pre-fit checks to final panel installation. The woodgrain surface helped break the uniformity of the Basalt tone, adding soft contrast against the darker architectural elements.:

After the Installation

The new doors created a stronger visual presence while maintaining balance with the home’s overall colour structure. Each element—from the Lux Maple eaves to the Night Sky barges—was selected to enhance the final presentation without overcomplicating the build.

The doors now contribute to thermal performance, improved access, and increased exterior consistency. Gliderol’s track system ensures smooth function, while the Colorbond steel surface provides durability in local weather conditions.

Why We Use Gliderol Garage Doors

Gliderol is known for offering reliable doors with low maintenance requirements. Their sectional systems are designed to fit a range of builds and custom layouts.

  • Available in multiple profiles and finishes
  • Built with Australian conditions in mind
  • Strong panel tracking and safety system
  • Compatible with modern openers and smart controls

We recommend Gliderol when clients need a mix of durability, insulation, and modern appearance. Their Colorbond options also make colour matching easier during renovation.

How Colorbond Enhances Garage Door Projects

Colorbond steel is widely used in garage doors, cladding, and trims due to its strength, finish quality, and ability to perform in harsh conditions. Its performance in resisting UV exposure, corrosion, and thermal extremes makes it suitable for homes across coastal and inland regions.

  • Consistent colour options across cladding, roofing, and trims
  • Thermal and fire resistance properties
  • Long-term appearance retention

Integrated use of Colorbond across external materials delivers visual balance and practical benefits. It also makes future upgrades easier, with a wide range of matching finishes available for extensions or changes.

Garage Door Issues Commonly Found in Rental Properties

Rental properties put garage doors through more than owner-occupied homes.
